Beef lentil bolognaise

Servings 6 people


  • 500 g lean beef mince Heart smart mince or <5% fat
  • 1 400g tin of brown lentils drained and rinsed
  • 2 carrot grated
  • 1 zucchini grated
  • ¼ celery whole head grated or finely sliced
  • ½ whole cauliflower
  • 2 cloves garlic clove crushed
  • 1 red onion finely diced
  • 1 400g tin reduced salt tomato soup
  • 1 400g tin diced tomatoes
  • 300 g Wholemeal spaghetti dry weight


  • Fry up the onion and garlic for a couple of minutes before adding the mince
  • Add all the ingredients to the fry pan and mix through
  • Simmer gently until vegetabled cooked


Pasta in the recipe gives 1/2 cup cooked pasta per serve. Increase quantity as required. Swap pasta for an equal measure of brown rice
Serve with 1-2 cups of fresh or frozen vegetables
